Crocodylomorpha, Thalattosuchia, Metriorhynchidae
Cricosaurinae Koken, 1888 (Thalattosuchia, Metriorhynchidae) is a a junior homonym of Cricosaurinae Cope, 1875 (Squamata Xantusiidae). Therefore, it has been proposed to replace Cricosaurinae Koken, 1888 with Cricosaurusinae.
Furthermore, Cricosaurinae Koken, 1888 should be treated as nomen oblitum, whereas its junior homonym
Rhacheosaurini
Young et al., 2011 should be treated as nomen protectum as the first has not been treated as valid name after 1899 and the latter has been used in at least 25 works by at
least ten different authors.
